As we move into a new season here at the Catholic Charismatic Renewal of New Orleans, we wanted to have a physical representation of our inspiration and mission. Out of that need came our new logo.
The dove symbolizes the coming of, or the impartation, of the Holy Spirit as spoken of in Scripture. Please see Mark 1:10, Matthew 3:16, John 1:32, Luke 3:21-22, and Acts 1:8. The dove is colored as a flame from the inspiration of Acts 2:1-4 to recall the tongues of fire that fell on the disciples during Pentecost.
The blue swish below the dove is a reminder of the water of the Mississippi River. The French Jesuits referred to the Mississippi River as the “River of the Immaculate Conception.” The Spanish explorers referred to it as “The River of the Holy Spirit.” This blue swish is also a reminder of the Living Water that Jesus gives to us (please see John 4:10-14, John 7:38, Jeremiah 17:13, and Revelation 22:1-2).
The fleur-de-lis reminds us that we are doing ministry in the Archdiocese of New Orleans. For some, the fleur-de-lis represent an iris, a beautiful bloom that symbolizes the Holy Trinity. It has long been a symbol of purity and associated with the Catholic Church and Mary.
The mission of CCRNO is to introduce the Holy Spirit and the baptism of the Holy Spirit as seen at Pentecost to those in the Archdiocese of New Orleans. Our new logo reminds us of this calling and challenge. Each day, our logo reminds us that we are ambassadors of the Holy Spirit and of the baptism of the Holy Spirit.
